I assume it is possible, but do I need a certain spec TV card and if so can anyone recommend a good one?

Yes, it is possible. The card you need will be dependent on what features you need: will you just need it to accept an aerial feed, or to decode Freeview signals, or to accept S- or Composite video (from, say, a digibox)?

http://www.videohelp.com/capturecards has a lot of information that might help. I use a Pinnacle card that does for me (and it was cheap!).

Make sure you have a big hard drive (files can be huge), and maybe invest in a DVD rewriter, to store things.
